Default XLS keyless start

Hi: I just picked up a brand new XLS with the keyless start. I was able to start it with just the plastic **** at the dealer ship. But when I got home (200 miles away), I can only start it with the mechanic key. The plastic **** doesn't turn, even when I push it in hard. Is there something that I might have done to disable the keyless start mechanism? Please advise. Thanks a lot.

I have never heard of this before. Is the plastic cover on correctly? I find that you don't have to push it very hard before turning it.

Also, welcome to the forums!

Yup...the key is in my pocket. I know the electronics work becausethe doorsunlocks automatically. The plastic **** seems to be on securely clipped on becauseI would have to squeeze the two rubber buttons to remove it. So I guess I have to bring to a nearby dealer for repair.

Another question I have is can I duplicate the mechanic key? Can I disable F.A.S.T feature? Thanks.

Do you have Nav? I believe there is an option in the programming to change the FAST system. I am not sure if it can vary the starting or just the keyless entry though.

evoracer- excellent thought

puwit321 - I am pretty sure there is an option to disable the Keyless starting in the MMCS. If you have the Nav system and thus MMCS, were youin messing around with the equipment options in the MMCS? You could have changed it to disable the keyless start. It is worth checking before taking it back to the dealer. That would make for a real Homer "duh".

You guys are the best! It turned out the I messed with the Nav unit. I had "door only" option selected. I changed it back to door and start. Now I can turn the ****. Aparently it has some electro-mechanicrelay that controls the key mechanism. The two dealers I went to were as clueless as I was. Thanks alot.

Wow, sounds like a slip up. I like to explore in the menus, I better be careful what I change.

Glad it got fixed
