well....."guinea pig" that is, i'll wait for the next one, uhhmm maybe next yr. same thing happened when i, bought my 00' eclipse. since its the first one to hit the show room, nobody knoes whats goin on with the car. and yep' 3 mnths later...power steering unit is messed up, then about 2 wks. after, a recall for tranny. so, maybe the next mod /mods should be better, and more improvements.
Mitsubishi is darned quick with the info though. I gave them a call, told them the last 8 of the VIN, and within 20 seconds the guy verified that my Eclipse was not part of the affected vehicles.

This Eclipse isn't the only "first run" vehicle I've owned, and to be honest, they have their quirks, but overall there haven't been any huge problems (okay, brakes going out is bad, but I'm talking Pinto type problems, exploding gas tanks and such). While I'd have been a bit frustrated to have to find a way to get it back to the dealership, there's no way I'd trade this car for anything else (within reason, I'd drop it in a heartbeat for a Vanquish).

i am always hesitant to buy a first run car....this is an example of why..but they are some slick lookin rides...but i want forced induction in my next new vehicle.
