Default Just spent my savings on a Montero and it's dead!

Hello Mitsubishi friends,

I just bought a 2002 Mitsubishi Monterro sport on Friday from a private seller on craigslist. I knew it needed a new battery because the battery light was on and the battery was randomly loosing power and the radio would go off and on. So we thought the terminals might be bad and replaced them. That didn't do it so it was probably the battery. When the battery died again, we got a jump and the guy suggested removing the positive cable to see if the car would still run(not sure why). Well when we did that there was a power surge, dash lights flashed on the wipers went on fast, and then it totally died and now it won't start! It tries to turn over but it won't, even with a new battery. I spent my whole savings on the car and I don't have the money to have the mitsubishi repair guys look at it ($110 to look at it and $110 an hour to fix the issue . We think it might be the linkage wires because all of the fuses appear intact. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for your help!!!!!

Voltage regulator on the alternator seems to be out. Check it with a volt meter when running. Most likely it killed the fuse, so check your fuse box and go from there.

use a multimeter to test fusible links.
