LED Left Taillight not working, Outlander 2011--FIXED!
Left tail-light (running lights) not working on outlander 2011 (associated brakelight works) -- flashes 3 times when lights are turned, then Tail light goes out.
No bulb to replace but must replace whole Tail-light assembly ($500 new at USA Parts store, $200 from China!).
So, replaced the whole tail-light assembly -- still didn't work. Then Found problem / resolution.
Strange as it may seem, replaced non-working LED license plate ligts -- then BAM! , the seemingly unrelated Left tail-light now works.
According to various threads, if left Tail light goes out, non-working License plate Lights should be replaced and that often fixes the issue.
Also, according to same threads, if right Tail light goes out, you should look to replace a non-working glove compartment (!!) light -- not sure if that is right but some have claimed that. Check it out.
Some pretty crazy wiring at Mitsubishi Company. Isn't that called wiring in series?
Isn't that kind of like outlawed (super faux pas) in car engineering ???
Strange way to get you to change your License plates, because no one ever does? (Or Glove lights.)
Great way to get unsuspecting custeroms to frequent Mitsubishi Auto Dealerships service garages -- and let them charge hundreds of dollars for some you can do with about $14 for LED license lights?
(Rest of the story -- decided to keep the expensive (200$) assembly because the old one had a crack. Oh well for me -- but this could save YOU hundreds of dollars (if US based) and lots of hassle.)

Saw this post and was a bit skeptical but thought I’d give it a go to potentially save $$… worked first try! Blown away! I have no idea where you found this info but you’ve saved me! Thanks again
