mitsibushi lancer 1991 overheating ??
Recently my 1991 lancer overheated. I don't know a lot about cars but from what people have told me, it may have blown the head gasket.
We drained and flushed the radiator and put "chemi-weld" in the system as per the instructions, which has hopefully sealed the gasket (for now).
The radiator cap was releasing a lot of steam and I think the oil has water in it as the oil is sort of frothy/ foamy. It continued to do this after we put chemi-weld in the system. The heater is also not hot.
At this point we thought the problem was the THERMOSTAT was stuck closed and that was what was causing the overheating and no heat in the heater.
Today we purchased a new thermostat. On opening the thermostat housing we discovered the car has NO thermostat! Obviously someone before me has taken it out?
Could someone please help?? what is causing the over heating?
Thanks so much,
Kate
