I've got a 96 Montero LS. Problem I'm facing is when I put it in drive it feels like it is trying to take off in 2nd or 3rd. Once I get going it drives fine. I have to put it down in Low to get to take off then shift up to drive. I was told this was possibly a speed/shift sensor. Does anyone know if that sounds right? Also, if so, is that located outside the tranny? Thanks abundantly for any help!

 

Im having the same problem. Did you ever figure out what your problem was? Please tell me yes lol ive been searching everywhere.
