Default New to the Forum. Trying to solve a problem.

I'm new to this forum. I'll be trying to solve what I want to believe has to be a specific, and hence, easily solved, problem. Since my mechanic's first attempt at it has already failed, to the tune of a few dollars, I'm hoping that there is enough collective knowledge out there (in here) to zero in on what's going on and what's going on that's wrong. Thanks in advance to anyone and everyone who is able to assist me.
