Aloha, I'm a new newbie. Been a huge fan of Mitsubishi for many years, but I've been driving a PoS 1989 Honda Civic STATION WAGON for about two years because it's what my budget could afford, being in college. However, I'll be buying a 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT SL (*sighs* FWD, but I'll make due) within a week or so. Thought it might be good to finally become a member here. So, hello all, nice to meetcha.

Oh you don't even know the half of it, lol. My parents originally bought it for my dad so I could have his 98 Honda Civic DX 2 door hatchback. He's not a car guy, so he didnt' care what he drove. They bought it spur-of-the-moment for $1,000, then later found out that if I, the youngest member of the family (an only child, sadly) did not drive the oldest car, the insurance would skyrocket. So guess who got it? Me! All right, I straight up tell them there is no way in hell I am driving that thing without work being done to it. There was no muffler, the driver's door was broken, the speakers for the sound system were blown, the interior was hideous, needed a new fuel pump, and get this, whoever had apparently "fixed" the car previously installed the wrong front axle. *smack head* There were many other little problems (like seatbelts not working) but that's basically the gist of it. So before I would even drive it, I had to put in $3,100 worth of work into it, lol.

Then comes stage two surprise.

I take out the backseat to get it re-upholstered because there were stains all over it. It was obviously a family car. To do that, I needed to remove the interior carpeting, which was fine by me because the previous owners had put WHITE CARPETING IN A FAMILY CAR. You can't imagine what it looked like. So I remove the carpeting. And what do I find? It had been STAPLED to the floor with construction staples. These things were 3 inches long and an inch wide. *smack head* Ok, so they were dumbasses, the previous owners, that is, but oh well. Taking it out is just going to take a lot of effort, since those staples are all over the place and are very long.

Stage three surprise.

When stapling the carpeting, whoever did it, they stapled right through the wiring in several places. I have no !@#$ing clue how, but somehow the metal of the staples was able to complete the current running through the wire. However...when the staples were taken out...*sarcastic laugh*. Oh god. Ever had to tell a mechanic the reason that your car wasn't working was because you removed the interior carpeting? Good times, good times.

I decided to just stop working on it at that point, in case I !#@$ stuff up even more. So right now the bare metal floor is showing, there is no back seat, then for the front passenger seat there is not a working seatbelt.

*sighs* Definitely time to get a new car, lol.

My parents are impulse buyers. Stuff like this happens a lot.

Lol...

My mom bought a new SUV for herself recently. At the first lot she went to. The first car she drove. I begged her not to buy it right away. She said too bad, she liked it. I begged her to try and haggle, get the price down. She said no, it seems like a fair price. She bought it.

She finds out a week later they sold her the wrong car (she wanted an 4WD Hyndai Sante Fe, they sold her a FWD one). I decided I might as well do some research on varying prices.

*smacks head*

She over-payed by about $3,000.

I love my parents.

Are staples better or worse than using liquid nails to install carpet? We did carpet in a chevet with a 350 small block and it looked decent. It wasent my idea and not my car. Im smarter than that.

Staples?!?! ACK... I'd say get a custom molded carpet. The fit's better and it'll look better.

No idea about the liquid nails, sorry man.

Yeah, definitely wasn't custom carpeting, lol. It was white house carpeting, disgusting as hell with all the stains that were on it.

At one point I was thinking about completely tricking it out and putting a bed in the back, lol, Daaaamn. Then decided it jut wouldn't do, lol. Besides, I'd rather put the money into my car than money into a girlfriend or someone to **** anyway, lol.

At least a car is reliable.
