So i just barely joined and i have a question about my eclipse rs non-turbo, there is a scratching noise coming from the trans-axle area and it almost sounds like metal on metal, it started happening a while ago mostly during cold starts but now it happenes all the time and is getting worse. I think it might be the throwout bearing but i have also heard that it could be a main shaft bearing because when i depress the clutch the sound goes away immediately, i am taking it in to my mechanic on tues but just wanted to hear your guys thoughts on it. and by the way since i am a noob also to forums completely im not sure what thread i should be posting my stuff in... btw my eclipse is a 99 RS non-turbo.
