Hi i am a newbie,

My name is gav and i drive a mitsubishi carisma 1.8 glx 16v and i'm having a problem with my gear box, First thing is that when i select a gear i can hear squeeking coming from under the car, and now i am unable to get it into reverse, i goes into revers about 1 out of 10 attempts can anybody please help me and tell me why if they know.

most likely manual, most cars in europe are manual, out of te hundreds, thousands of cars i seen, i only saw 6 that were Auto trans

 

Its a 5 speed, in England nobody drives an auto. Speaking of the UK, I ****ing hate Staffordshire lol

Anyways, I'm guessing you are a 'boy racer' so more than likely the clutch is absolute toast. As well as that, you could have messed up the linkage as someone already said. The squeeking could have been the throw out bearing.
