Is 12.73 a good 1/4 mile run?
and why would you want to anyway, Automatice is always faster then manual, whe you reach high horpower applications. Which is what this particular eclipse was built for. Plus it's alot easier when you want to cruise.

Auto works alot better with older V8 applications newer auto trannies really are not built for racing so you could build it i dont really know if they makes the parts for the newer auto trannies but i would say in a 4 cylindar application really no matter how high you get the horses i would rather have a stick look at some of the 1000whp 4g63t s ....stick
listen import or not, when you get into high applications, theirs no better then automatic. I'm sure the fastest powered 4g63' brent rau car is automatic. It's always going to be faster, wether it's imports or domestics. Now the fact that imports dont exactly have as reliable automatic trannys, as manual is a diffrent story. Or that their more difficult to tune.
When you get to the nine second and 8 seconds streets cars, you rarely see manual tranny's because its too depending on human error. I'm sure the day they can swap out the manual awd tranny the evo's have for an automatic race tranny, is the day all the AMS/Bushur track cars become automatic.
Trust me when i tell you, automatic will always be faster, just ask Vinny Budano if he'll trade his tranny for a manual. He drives the world fastest street car.

dude, first of all, you're talking about two totally opposite ends of the spectrum... if your first post you said its better for high hp applications, and also better to cruise... how many 9 second cars do you see just cruising around town for a joy ride? hardly ever... and what are the chances this guy is going to be building a car that fast? For a daily driver, which is what im assuming his car is going to be, a stick would be better. I believe that driving a stick makes you a better driver naturally because it keeps you on your toes, you're more alert. Also, having a manual transmission will be better on gas mileage, aaaaaaaand it's easier totune and cheaper to get repaired... in these kind of applications a manual transmission will beat out an automatic.... i would like two identical cars of this caliber, one manual and one automatic, line up on the drag strip, and see who wins that race... a-thank you
anyone who says that manual is better has never driven a high HP car. Because it doesnt matter what type of car or engine it is. If its getting over 400hp than its gonna start to be a pita because you need a beefy clutch and its starts to get annoying. And if you are asking all these questions about this car then it seems obvious to me that you shouldnt own it since youll probably blow it up if you dont know enough, especially since its tuned with dsmlink
