Default Boosting a 4G64

Has anyone ever done this? I've got a 99 Spyder and its slow as *****. I don't want to do a swap, but rather stick to low boost on stock internals.

High mileage + Mitsubishi reliability + high compression bottom end + boost = BOOOOOOM, any way you slice it.

The 4G63T will drop straight in, don't be scared to get dirty.

sorry to bring up old threads, but im assuming that he just wants a few extra ponies under the hood. Id say just get the basic parts needed and put it on man. People say use the td04 or similar, just to get the little extra you want with low psi(7-8) get a t25,they are cheap, prone to needing rebuilt but the kit is only like 50 bucks, get the lines, manifold, gaskets, maybe a gst ecu and a few other things and get to it. He wanted to know if anyone has done this. There is a reason some owners of a 4g64 will not swap motors. To be different.. Good luck and check out curts spyder for more turbo info!

Hey since he brought it up I have a td04, came out of a vr4 3kgt (guy did massive upgrades, I got to keep one of the turbos) if you wanna go that route make an offer well see what we can do about it. Me personally, I wanna hunt down a 1st gen gsx or tsi. You can swap the dohc head of the 1st gen 4g63 onto the 4g64 block. And the 1st gen has larger intake mani ports than the 2nd gen. So you throw on the 1g turbo head and can run a 16g or bigger, have a 2.4l turbo like an srt4 neon. After that I personally wanna rip the drivetrain and rear suspension from a 2g gsx or tsi_awd and modify it to utilize only the rwd. Thus giving me a 2.4l turbo awd convertible. Can you find another one like it?

(well, maybe soon since the idea just got broadcasted some people willl be like "**** thats a cool idea!")
