confused on a few things...
1. ok... i just read that there is a certain 1.8 that is just not able to be swapped with the 4g63.. is that true? if so, what one cuz i dont wanna get the 4g63t to swap it then not be able to.
2. i found a 4g63 non turbo for 700 bucks with only 40k miles on it... im gunna buy it if i can do the swap. then i wanna put an EVI III 16g turbo on it, but i also heard that when i put a turbo on there i will need to change the ecu, wiring harness, headgasket, cams, and injectors ect. is that true? if so how much will that run me?

1. > no idea
2. > more then what its worth, the oil spouts in the block are different and the pistons/rods are different, bottom line, it will work, but it will be less work if you buy a turbo 4g63.

i think what he is maybe talking about slow is the 2g eclipse N/T that comes with the 420a where you cannot swap in the 4g63. But then again that engine is a 2.0L so maybe thats not what your talking about. But as long as you have a 1g then the 4g63t should be able to be swapped in there.
ok, thanks guys i will keep looking for a 4g63t. i found one but its 1500.. so will i save buy buying that or the n/t for 700 and converting??
also, im looking for used 2.0 4g63t's and i found some that are 7 bolt. im guessing thats for the 2g's but im not sure.. another thing i found a couple times is a 4g64 sohc. is that any good? and will it fit in my car?

the 7 bolt was produced from 92.5 -94 in the 1g, so yes it will fit, in a nut shell 6 bolt>7 bolt becuase its crank wont walk(crank walk).
For the 4g64, its the same thing as a 4g63 but its a 2.4 sohc. Its the motor that comes in the 3g eclipse gs/rs and the 2g eclipse spyder gs. Its not a bad motor but the 4g63 has more potential.

thanks alot man. but what one will save me more, the 700 dollar 4g63 and upgrading to turbo, or 4g63t for 1500 dollars? either one i get im putting a new turbo on so dont include that.
Honestly they would be about the same in the end, the 4g63 non turbo may be a little cheaper but its going to take alot of time and work to change over. If I were you, I would head down to the local junk yard and see if you can get your hands on a 6bolt short block, throw in some j.e. pistons, some eagel rods. Then order a ported/polished head off ebay strap that on with a mls headgasket and drop her in. It would cost a bit but you would have a nasty motor to work with.
