Turbo help please
Well im sorry for you members that already know everything about these engines. but ive got to ask this just to be sure now i did read some stuff about doing a turbo on these forums but im not to for sure. right now im selling my car and i plan on getting my dads 93 eclipse gs with the 2.0 now im guessing these are the engines to use not the other one (420a) but im guessing the internals need to be changed out because they wouldn't be able to handle the turbo. what im really asking is it fine to put a turbo on and what needs to be changed out. and the car has 120 thousand miles on it and has been owned by my family since it was bought new so its been treated right oil changed etc, thank you
it depends on what you plan on putting in and how much boost you want to run. I think with a small 14b turbo or something running low boost like around 8psi the internals would probably be fine. But thats not gonna get you very far. If it were me i would put new internals definetly so that there is breathing room.
crank: yes, nearly everything else.... no lol.
When mitsu made the 4g63 it was orginally a non turbo carb motor. When they decided to put it into productin they based the 4g63t off the motor. So basically what we(the consumers) are left with is a turbo motor that was based and improved off a non turbo motor... instead of the other way around. To make a long story short alot of things are different. The 4g63 non turbo can never be exactly like a 4g63t because even the blocks are different(the non turbo has different oil spouts in the block). If you want to make it similar to a 4g63 t though your going to need to change the.... pistons, rods, cams, injectors, ecu, and headgasket on top of the turbo setup.
