Lie it says. Did anyone pick up the iPhone 3G? I am bored of my blackberry pearl and I am strongly considering going tomorrow and picking up the iPhone3G. For $199 and 8gb flash driveya kinda cant go wrong, I mean I have the old school iPod 4gb mini (ya know the one without picture or color screen which cost me $200 back in the day)

Any way just want to hear anyones experience with these in the past week or even the origanal iPhone

 

i didnt realize it was only $199... i opted not to get it, i just got a blackberry curve last weekend. i absolutely love that one. The main reason why i didnt get the iphone is cause it doesnt have insurance on it yet, once they put that on there i'll jump all over it

 

I have had my iPhone for a couple of months now and I don't have a single complaint with it.

 

well you don't have the new one that he's talking about.... they just came out with the new one with the 3g network. basically all that does is make the internet faster. my boss has a blackjack and he loves it cause of how fast the internet is

 

I have had mine for about 8 months, and I have one major complaint, the damn headphones. (I don't have the 3g)

I have had probably 5 pairs now. I don't even listen to music anywhere near full blast, so don't go saying any stereotypical crap that is just going to **** me off.

The one thing I have to say, is that I can go into an Apple store and they replace them without question. Obviously because they know they suck.

First time I called the Apple store asking if I could come in and replace them (first time). The conversation went something lik this:

Me: Yeah, I have a problem with the iPhone headphone quality, and I am wondering if I can come in and get a replacement.
Her: Of course, you just need to make an appointment first.
Me: Why would I need to do that? I just want to come in and exchange them.
Her: Well it will mess with our inventory if we don't do it that way.

To cut a long story short, I ended up making an appointment, and made it there right on time.

I am greeted by this stupid ****ing homo "Hiiii how may I help you?" with that retarded 'I love it in the ***' grin on his face.

So now I am sitting at their stupid help desk. I wait for almost half an hour to be seen, when finally some ****ing genius asks me "Can I help you?"

Me: Yeah, I have had this iPhone for not too long now, and already the headphones are falling apart, and sound crap.
Him: Yeah we get that a lot. I didn't know thats all you wanted, you should have just thrown them at me and I would have gotten you some. (now I am really annoyed)
Me: Well when I called they told me I had to make an appointment.
Him: Oh... yeah... ha-ha So he tosses me new ones, and I leave....really annoyed.

So the next few times go smoothly...until about a week ago.

I walk in, sit at the geek desk, and grab this guys attention:

Me: Hey dude, these suck, I need replacements.
Him: Okay do you have an appointment?
Me: Funny you should ask, I came in here before and made an appointment, waited 30 mins l!ke a jackass, and then the guy that helped me told me to "Just throw them at him" and he will get me replacements.
Him: Okay, whats the problem with them?
Me: (annoyed now) they just suck. They sound crappy, and they rattle after using them for about a week.
Him: Well what kind of music do you listen to?
Me: Loads of things, the problem isn't with my volume, or my choice of music.
Him: Well, you see... these aren't high quality headphones...
Me: Are you kidding me? You pay for the most expensive phone in the world, and you are telling me it doesn't come with high quality head phones? Either thats bull**** or we have a serious ****ing problem.
Him: He walks away, types on his computer, and brings me my headphones

I leave.

****ing Apple bitches.

 

why would they give you high quality headphones? You pay a mint for an Evo and do you get high quality anything??

Mike, I see the point you are trying to make, but it is misguided.

It is the most expensive piece of hand held technology currently available on the market, with the purpose of not only being a cell phone, but also the leading product in MP3 players.

There is no possible way you can tell me that the most expensive cell phone / MP3 player on the market today should come with crappy headphones.

To draw a paralell to your example of the EVO, it would be the same as the EVO coming with an engine that lasts only a month before it needs a rebuild. It wont work without the engine, the same as I can't u$e the iPod feature of the iPhone because of crappy headphones. They rattle so bad that I can't understand people when they are talking to me. (they make the headphones as a handsfree kit because it has a built in microphone)

The other thing is, no other headphones will work with it. Because the headphone jack is slightly inward to the phone, and has a really skinny socket, no other headphone will fit.

THAT is my problem

EDIT: Just so you know, Apple doesn't offer any 'upgraded' headphones

 

I hate to tell you but for $199 the iPhone is nowhere near the most expensive, dont be stupid my work phone is a $2500 phone. The head phones are not the reason of purchase for an iPhone for me.Its more of an impulse purchase. Plus my blackberry pearl is ****ting the bed
