Default Burning Dvd's

Question for any of you tech people that might be able to help me. I am in the habit of burning my personal collection of dvd's, from the original that I own of course, and i sometimes have problems that maybe someone can help me eliminate.

well i guess i only really have one problem, some movies that i burn, they work fine, but then at the end of the movie, usually last 15 min or so, the movie becomes real choppy and almost stops working. i don't know why it does this, and i'm wondering if anyone knows a cure for this?

your help will be much appreciated.

another note, i noticed that i've had more problems w/ the movies that run over 2 hours, but that could be coincidence, especially since i don't always watch every movie i burn to the fullest.

things i'm trying to fix the problem(dvd's burning now, so i don't kno if they worked yet):
set the priority of the process to above normal
only burning to about 4.1 gigs so the end of the dvd doesn't get used
shut down every other process that i can thats running in the background
even disabled all internet activity so no files can be accessed through the network(from this laptop to my big computer, haha)

any help would be great!

With not much info given, my first suggestion would burn to burn the movie on the slowest possible speed... yes, you heard me.. the SLOWEST speed.. even if it's 1x. The slower you burn CD/DVDs the better integrity the data is going to have. Burning at high speeds can cause choppiness in movies.

i use dvd shrink, and a combination of dvd decrypter and dvdfab decrypter, it usually depends on what mood i'm in, i don't really know what brand dvd i'm using, they have a white printable label, thats all i can tell u
the little serial number on the bottom of the disc reads IFPI A375, i don't know if that means anything or not.

thanks for the help

Bah, you don't need all that. Just use 'Nero Recode' and a program called 'DVD Region+CSS Free' Recode will decrypt the movie as well as burn it, the other program will remove any copyright protection from the disc. I have burned over 100 dvd's this way and have never had a problem, not even with Star Wars movies, which have been known to have very good copyright. Also, you need to make sure the discs that you are burning to are the right ones. DVD-R is different from DVD+R, from the sounds of it, make sure you are using the DVD+R because if you burn to a disc at a faster speed than it allows, then you will get disc errors and choppy playback. The DVD+R can handle the faster burning speeds. Hope this helps.

You can find Nero Recode on any P2P application, I personally use Limewire because it's not ad supported = no adware, spyware, virus. DVD Region+Free CSS can be downloaded online, just google it and for the, actually just email me and I will email you everything you need. ictponder@hotmail.com

if you have to burn at the slowest possible speed then something is wrong. I burn at either 8X or 16X and NEVER have a coaster. There are WAYYYY more variables than just programs you use. Hardware is a big factor. Media is the next. If you dont believe me, go to VIDEOHELP.COM. I have been a member there for 3 1/2 years, and have burned 1000's of dvd's. I also convert video formats, film weddings and events for hire in this and surrounding counties. And if you go to Videohelp and say 'Nero Recode' is good, prepare to be flamed!

What Im trying to say is there is no such way to copy EVERY dvd. Some movies need different programs.

I've never had a problem. And yes, hardware is a big factor. But, what I was saying is that if you set a DVD-R to burn at 16x, it will not playback correctly because it can only burn at 8x, DVD-R is compatible with about 93% of most dvd players, DVD+R is only about 85%, so it could be the player you are playing them in.
