Finally back from the 2009 Starquest Nationals
Well I don't know if I mentioned it here or not but I went to Branson MO this past weekend for the 2009 Starquest nationals. (For those that don't know, Starquest = Starion and Conquest). I didn't win any prizes with my car but I did win a set of braided stainless steel lines for my brakes and oil system. I have tons of pics but I'll put only a few up here. I'll post a link to the entire photo album for those wanting to peruse them all.
So without further ado, here are the pics:
Just one of the many states I passed through on the way up. This is the one that came out the best though I think.
I ended up breaking down on the way twice. Both times the oil feed line let loose the second time I ended up piecing together a braided line from the 2 parts lines I had in the trunk.
St. Louis was beautiful. Here's a shot of the other guy that caravaned with me about 1/2 of my way there.
This has to be THE best gas station name I've EVER seen.
I got in late due to the 2 breakdowns so I didn't get to go to the track with everyone but here was the scene Saturday:
I didn't take many engine shots though I probably should have. I knew SQC members were going to be taking enough for me to look at anyways but here's one that I just HAD to get. His engine makes me want to take a black light to it but the pic does it NO justice at ALL.
Of course the raffle and door prizes:
and the awards
Like I said I'm only posting a small selection of the pics I took. You can view the full 178 pics at the link at the end.
Then there was a movie on the inflatable drive in screen that night. A japenese flick called Second Stage.
The next morning I came in with EVERYONE'S cars sitting right where they were the night before. Booze flowed like water that night. Here are some more shots I got of my car and the aftermath of the night:
After a few hours hanging out, time for the cruise to Eureka Springs. I didn't go the full length though. It was further than I cared to go that day with all the stuff to do in Branson still.

Back to Branson I went and had some sight seeing time. Went to the dam and took a few shots there.
Then a game of putt putt that ended in the destruction of a cell phone. Great game though. Monday those of us that hadn't left yet finally headed on our way home. I think I was the last out with the furthest distance to go. 1200 miles. Took a few shots on the way home as well. Here they are:
About 1/3 of the way home it started POURING rain. Shortly after the hail came. I had pulled over under an overpass for some protection and almost got nailed by a semi that couldn't manage to keep himself on the road too well. So I got back on the road and pulled over at the next rest stop to find out they had no power and that a mini tornado had visited the area. so off I went to get ahead of the crap weather only to have roofing debris fall in front of me while driving. Made it out all right though but I really don't want to deal with THAT weather again.
I took a few more shots experimenting with the camera and angles and setting. Let me know what you guys think>
Almost forgot. Here's teh link for the entire album:

Yeah still driving it and still working on it regularly. New SS braided oil cooler lines have been installed as well as a SS braided oil feed line. Next I'll be tackling the brakes. I want to replace all 4 rotors as well as wheel bearings and I have SS braided brake lines sitting next to me waiting to be installed. Want to do it all at once though.
