And where's the engine? Think about it. Then I'll allow you the chance to ridicule yourself for the shortsightedness. Conquest = front engine. Bug = ???.

No **** Sherlock, thanks for the info Beavis! When you were eluding to the fact that "Second, TSi=RWD" sounded like you were making the bug out to be FWD. Bad wording in there Sang.

Think about a regular front engine and rear wheel driveline then think of the bug's engine location. How would I have to mount it to make it work? SHEESH

Drop any engine swapping ideas. Not gonna happen since the car has a good running engine as is.

We wouldn't HAVE this problem if people weren't so damn insistant on swapping engines for no reason.

Yes a STOCK one would. This is no longer stock though. Not a whole lot has been done but it DOES have exhaust headers and a more aggressive cam in it. Besides there aren't many hills here in VA. Not where I am at least. I'm also looking at getting another engine to build up a bit and have as a spare if I should need to swap engines.

It will be the SAME engine though. The 1600cc flat 4. So stop the engine swap BS before you even start it. I actually rather like the air cooled flat 4's. And I REALLY don't feel like all the fabrication and alteration work on a car that has an unstable suspension at best. The Super Beetle was unfit for Rally due to the McPherson suspension that replaced the torsion bar setup of a standard bug. I'll be getting a strut bar though that's for sure. That should tighten up and stiffen the front suspension hopefully.
