once again, mike was right... lol
sooooooo, guysssssss, i'm making more money than i thought i would be. . . lol (sound familiiar?) not so much that my mind about the GSX has been changed BUT with the new job i am going to be in the market for a 4dr car to haul customers out to lunch in around february/march area.
i started out with several possible cars and have weeded out all but 3 or 4. (but we all know how effing indecisive i am soooo we'll see - i swear it's not my fault lol).
Subaru Legacy GT
Acura TL
Mazda Speed6
Mitsu EvoIX
The ONLY reason that the EVO isn't at the top of my list and blown everything else away is because not only do i need a 4dr... i also need something somewhat professional. I love the exterior of the EVO and i think the body is easily enough to impress anybody that looks at it but the interior is a different story. nobody can argue that the interior of the EVO is plain/boring at best. not a fan of the seats, not a fan of the center consol, dash... well, any of the interior BUT it's also a car that i've wanted for a loooonnnnggg time and i know the capabilities of.
The Legacy is a well rounded choice, 4cyl turbo, awd, luxurious and professional. The only reason that i like performance cars is as a street car, so the fact that it's outperformed by the Speed6 in the slolam (sp?) and road course really doesn't affect me much. It is the most expeensive of the cars i am looking at though.
If i were looking at getting a car ONLY for the professionalism the TL would be my choice hands down. The body is sexy, period. Interior speaks for itself with the indash Navi, leather, powerr everything and not exactly lacking on power out of the box. BUT it's n/a and fwd...
The Speed6 is winning in my mind right now. Nice/agressive look, very luxurious, stiff suspension, nice power, takes mods almost as well as an EVO from what i've been researching, no manufacturer defects yet (other than a turbo coolant line leak), nice aftermarket. It's basically everything that i'm looking for and i can pick one up for between 15k-20k.
I know that everybody on here is going to be pulling me in different directions with their opinions and everything but it don't care. One thing that i'm thinking about doing is trying to find a IX SE so i've already got the black interior with the black leather racing seats which helps my cause already, putting and indash screen would liven the interior up 10xfold, and subtle changes/aftermarket parts could make the interior look nice and plain, instead of just plain... you all know me and how i am... so get over it lol.
Around the first of the year i'll be test driving all of these cars and hopefully the drive will be the deciding factor in my purchase. Anywho, nice to be back on the forum again and talking to everybody.

Speed6 dont perform like an Evo come on now. When was the last time you saw a handful of them at a track tearing it up? Go to the track and you will see Evos no doubt lol.
That said I am a fan of the speed6. I almost bought one before my Evo. I desided not to because they weight wayyy to much for a "sports" car they are more along the lines of Benz and BMW sports cars. Heavy comfy and kinda quick.

The TL has the most class by far, but if you also want this to be your fun car, I don't think it's the one. I drove a TL and it has no traction till it was well into 3rd gear. 285hp through the front wheels is just way too much for that car.
The legacy is a super underrated car. If you just sit in one, feel the way the doors shut, you will see my point. They perform great, and will last you forever. Will it put a smile on your face? I think not. It's just too boring. Plus owning a Subaru is kinda like bangin your sister, it's just wrong.
The Speed6 is what I would get. I LOVE their suede and leather seats. Not to mention the car is AWD and decently powered. I think you would be very happy with it. Have you thought about a speed3 or is that a little too small for you?
The EVO, after racing with one on a 2mile, 11 corner race circuit, I was disappointed. The brakes were toast after 8 laps or something retarded, and the guy said he didn't like the way the car enters corners either. I rode with him...and I'm sad to say it was just not a pleasurable experience. It wasn't the driver either...this guy drives for Porsche.
My rank goes something like this...
Speed6
TL
Legacy
EVO

i hear you on theEVO's performance on the track, but again... i'm not a circuit racer, lap racer, time attack or even a drag person. whatever car i get will be nothing but a street car. I want something that looks good, fun to drive, and will put me in the back of my seat whenever i want it. as of right now the Speed6 is at the top of my list.
i have looked at and am impressed with the speed3's but... i'd rather have the awd. i've never owned an AWD car, i like the traction, insurance cut for a safety feature
, lack of understear, and cornering ability (basically just for an occasional fun offramp experience).
Mike, i'm not comparing the performance of these cars, i know hands down that the EVO is one of the most performance driven cars of our day (within reason of course). i know that the evo would outPERFORM all of the other cars but again, the interior is boring, plain and... well... ugly. i know that can all be changed but if i can pick up a speed6 for 2-5k less that already has the luxury built in, it only makes sense. also i know that the weight of the car is very high for what the car is promoted as (sports car) but i'm also not looking for the fastest thing on the road. whatever mods i do to whatever car i get will be strung out and in moderation. with either the evo, speed, or legacy i'd be shooting for apx 400whp and leaving it alone. basically something quick, fun, professional, and CLEAN!!
but like i said, this is still 3-5 months out so... who knows lol.

well sebba you wonder why he was not liking the evo is because he is used to a porche, you cant compare those. But cmopared to any of those 4 cars the evo will outhandle them all and have the most power.
What about an Audi S4...those are decent cars

In no way was he comparing it to a Porsche. Even from a passenger prospective I could see exactly what he was saying.
The Audi S4 is a nice luxury car, but they are total maintanace ******, and they have a history of having really crappy electrical systems. They are also the most expensive to have work done. Not a good combination. They are also the most expensive on the list...

not only that but it was a X. the Evo X IMO is hardly an Evo. it is underpowered for its weight when you compair to the IX that makes the same power and wieghts 300+ lbs less. You take a VIII or IX around a track all day and the car will just beg for more.
The EvoX is more like the Speed6 heavy with small amount of kick. The differance is your not seeing the Speed6 running lap after lap.
My rate of the cars would go
Legacy
Evo IX
speed6
TL
Evo VIII
Evo X
in that order. it really depends what you want. All I can say is if you do this and drop the GSX idea you will end up regretting not getting a car like an Evo the way that you are. Because the others on the list simply will not perform much past the way they are.
