Shop rant
Well as most of you know, I'm rebuilding my engine for a wee bit more power. Well I got reconditioned rods and had the wrist pins pressed in with wiseco 8.0:1 pistons. I got the block bored .020 over, decked, and the rotating assembly balanced. So I get a call from the shop last friday. They say my stuff is ready I can come get it whenever but they tell me there was a slight problem... Ok what problem i ask them. They say that they had to fit the rods with floating wrist pins because the pressed ones practically fell out when they went to balance them (These are pre balanced race prepped rods BTW). That was Friday. Fast forward to today and I decide to call them back and find out what EXACTLY they've done to my rods and if they floated the pins properly by inserting a bronze bushing into the rod so that I don't have steel on steel in the rods. He says no they didn't I ask why he says I should run it as is and THEN when something wears out put bushings in.... WTF IS WRONG WITH THIS JACKASS!!! I went OFF on him. I've been talking to guys that have been working on these cars over 15 years. I talk to a machine shop in Ohio that does MOST of the work on the ones I know. This retard at the machine shop is going to tell me HE knows better than these guys? First off they didn't BOTHER to call me and ask if they could do that work to my rods. So IF the rods had actually had that problem I now CAN'T send them back where I got them and get replacements. They're going to charge me extra $ AND not bother to do the job right??? THIS is EXACTLY why I no longer work in the automotive field.

As an international business student i tell you big corps lose HUGE ammounts of money for assupmtions and acting without any kind of confirmation... that sucks bro, hope you find a way to work it all out
Well hopefully it's going to be them repairing the things they jacked up and not charging me for them. Otherwise it will be a fun filled day in court and they will be buying me NEW race prepped rods and then some.
I love jackasses...no wait...I love to hate them, there we go.
Sorry about the news bro. It sucks that we trust shops that should know, but don't. I hope they just admit their fault and pay up.

so, let me make sure i understand this right. the guy is saying install these as is and WHEN something goes wrong then have it fixed? i'd tell that **** to pay for some new rods b/c he didn't have permission to mess w/ em.
I wish it were that easy. I STILL would have to have them shipped here, and then pressed pins put in with my wisecos on them. I have the floating bushings on the way as well as the wrist pin clips I'm hoping the guy will see what a jackass he's been and put the bushings in and not charge for the rod work. These were ready to go rods out of the box. I have a feeling they actually damaged something when they tried to remove the old wristpins and are using that they fell out as an excuse.
UPDATE!!! Well went to the shop talked with the owner and the guy that I talked to yesterday basically doesn't talk to customers so he didn't know how to handle himself. But I got the owner to knock the price of floating the pins off and I'm debating bushing them right now. So far it still looks like I won't be able to make my deadline but I'm still trying my @$$ off.
