good on you for restoring the car, is it a narrow or wide body style? still curious as to why there's no starion thread on this forum? i know some people out there own them, they just need to come out of hiding because personally i think there beautiful looking cars

I'm going to guess that there isn't a section here for them because they have been out of production since '89. I myself have an '88 Conquest that I've completely rebuilt the engine in as well as having done quite a bit of upgrade work to it.
Now as for the engine, no US model Starion or Conquest TSi came with a 4G63. The only block EVER put into the US models was the G54B. The Aussies got a different motor and Japan got a different motor as options if I remember correctly. ALL of them are turbo charged but the ones before '84 I believe were non intercooled. Up until I believe '86 there were only flatties '86 gave both flatties and widebodies (it might have been '85 I don't remember now) then 87 and beyond were all widebodies. There are numerous differences over the years that I could go through such as the air dams and seats and whatnot.
If you do a little searching on the board here you should find a couple of threads by me detailing my rebuild of the engine and the specs that it holds now as well as details about the 2009 Starquest national meet in Branson MO. If you REALLY want more info on these cars, shoot me a message and I can point you to some resources. Such as a place where you can download the entire service manual for free.
Here's a couple of my more favorite pics from the trip to and from the meet and one pic of only a fraction of the Starions and Conquests that showed up:

well not only did the starion go out in 89 but they also ended in the dodge/chysler name.
mines a 87 wide body
when the wide body came out they started the intercooled engines.
there are actually 3 conquest for sale in here in redding ca.

I'm pretty sure intercooling was an option in the '84-'86 and then after that it was standard.
The Starion was replaced by the 3000GT in '90 I believe. '89 was the last year for the Starion/Conquest TSi though in the states. They were produced in Japan until '90-'91 if I remember correctly.
