This is a water injection system that sprays a fine mist of water into your engine to prevent detonation. There was a guy around my area that has it on his turbocharged Honda Del Sol. It allows him to run a higher boost pressure.

How does it not harm the engine? I am not performance schooled as of yet, so why in this case is water in the engine a helpful thing? Albeit a very fine mist, but still, can anyone offer me some more info? Just trying to learn here

Actually it is an alcohol/water mist system. The mixture can be adjusted to suit your preference. The more alcohol, the higher the power, and is less damaging to the engine. Even straight water can increase compression levels because water vapor expands more than air when heated in the cylinder. The safest and more powerful combination is to mix 50/50 or higher ratio of alcohol. Alcohol actually helps to dry and clean your engine.
