What to do, what to do..
oh yea that should be easy. Just look on autotrader or something. There are plenty of cars for that price. Or even if you can make the total $1500 youll probably find a couple nicer ones. Just look for either hyundai's, saturns, hondas. Something like that. And try and get something that isnt a total $hit box thats only gonna last a month. My saturn has been running good for 8 months now at 170k miles. Might even look into a 1g eclipse for that price
No doubt, electrical problems are a real pain in the *** to track down. This is the car that was rear ended right? One of the wires had to have gotten pinched and is shorting to ground.
To the OP, do you know anyone that can help you remove the tail lights and trace some wires?

Why are you asking a question if you dont want people honest opinions. So let me get this straight then...your driving a car that does not have functioning tail lights?? That is not safe at all. So you think that hazards will make up for the fact that you dont have any brake lights....dumb.
Dont drive the car. And if you got a loan to buy the eclipse then i think its pretty simple you need to sell what you have left and get a new car (with a new loan...cuz obviously you could pay the first loan)...or fix this one by getting a loan. Those are your only options. Driving thiscar should not be one of them. So i agree with josh.
Im not trying to be an ***, im just saying think first and dont ask if you dont want a straight answer

I was'nt being an ***, I was being a stern realist.
And as much as Sebba begged me to on aim, I will not retract what I said or apologize, i'm not that person.
Driving a car with no tail lights, hazards flashing or not, is not smart at all.
end of story.
You don't have to retract it. You said your opinion, which I don't care about, however, I care about the way you put it. There was no need for you to come across as rude as you did. Engineer was perfectly civil, and guess what? He got his point across better than you did. You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar.
