Hello. A friend of mine had a 4G32 (early 80's) with an Aisan carb fitted to his forklift a few years ago. Apparently it has never run well. It will rev if you build the revs up SLOWLY, but if you 'blip' the throttle it dies.

I have a kit for the carb coming - what I am wanting advice on is the vacuum lines. Most of the lines on the carb, and also the pipe on the inlet manifold have been closed off - it does not have a brake booster, nor the hot / cold flap on the air filter.

Should any of the carb lines be fitted to manifold vacuum / does it have a power valve that needs vacuum to operate. Anything I need to know about these carbs?

In the photos I have attached (I think) the plunger has been disconnected as I had just taken the top off to make sure I was ordering the right kit, also auto choke is missing - it does run better when warm but a long way off being right

 

I also have a similar issue where when you press the throttle too quick it dies/backfire. Currently in the process of taking it apart, do you know what's the name of the carb?
