This just happened this morning, so I have not yet been able to troubleshoot it as I had to get to work.

Last night the Check Engine light came on, so I checked the oil & gas cap... both were fine. This morning I attempted to start the car to got to work & the engine chugged like it was gonna start then nothing. I attempted a few more times and the result was the starter motor cranking away, but it would not fire up.

I'm not really savvy when it comes to car repair, but I can follow directions very well. Any suggestions on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.

 

My Dad just called me & said that he tried starting it about 4 hours after my attempt & it fired right up.

So, would this possibly be an issue with fouled plugs or bad wires? If so I know I should replace the plugs and wires... What if anything else should I look at?

 

Did you ever figure out what it was? My car is doing the same thing.
