Diamante Fuel Problems?
Last year I bought a 98 Diamante with 95000 miles on it. Car ran perfect when I got it. About a month and a half ago I was driving home from work and it blew a fuse with no warning whatsoever. Ended up being the 30 amp ignition relay. So I fixed it, then it ran fine until 500 miles later and blew again. Then it started getting more and more common. What would happen, was I would be driving, say, 45 mph and all of the sudden the gas pedal just would not do anything. The car would decelerate for like 3 seconds, and blow the relay. It did that maybe 6 or 7 times in a month. The next time, the car died the same way, except it didn't blow the fuse at all, just the gas stopped working until the car came to a complete stop. I then turned off the car and the car started right back up and drove fine the rest of the night. A couple days later it did the same thing 8 times in a row on one street, and then blew a fuse. I had it towed to the dealer, where they checked all of the wiring to see if it was a short or something. They found nothing. They told me it was probably the fuel pump. So, I had my mechanic take a look at it, and I decided to just change the fuel pump anyways even if that wasnt the problem since I had no other options. So I get my car back today, and while I am driving at speeds around 40 mph, the gas will stop working(but the car will continue running), lower to 1000 rpms, and then start working again in like 5 seconds. So it didn't die at all, which is a first. I am just confused on whether this is a fuel related problem or an electrical problem. No one seems to have any advice for me, even the dealer just told me to take it home. Can someone PLEASE help me?
