GST Missfire Cyl#2
My 1998 GST has developed a missfire. Ob2 code says Missfire cylinder#2. Where do I start? Spark plug wires are about 18 months old. Is it coil pack? Fuel injector? Car has over 103,000 miles
Thanks Everyone in advance

wires 18 months? start there... change plugs & wires. My wires caused a misfire when i first bought the car and it as caused by old wires that were arcing between eachother. Its just a good idea to replace them anyway.
Always start with the basics. Inspect the plugs for wear (be sure you use the original NGK dual electrode plugs if it calls for it). Look at each plug wire boot inside and outside looking for evidence ignition arc. Pay attention to number 2 cylinders. In my experience with Mitsubishi, you'll probably find your problems here. Factory OEM parts work best for an unmodified engine or engines with minor modification- i recommend you use em.

Wow. I usually try to follow that advice myself. My daughters 99 Eclipse was misfiring on #2 also. Plugs were replaced a month ago. I figured it was the fuel injector or valves. Replaced fuel injectors and still running rough. Guess I'll go for the wires next and proceed to the coil(s?) if needed. Who knows, it may end up being valves but I still should have started with the cheapest/simplest repair option first. P.S. - got a set of re-manufactured injectors for $29 a piece so it wasn't too bad.
Any pointers I get from here would be appreciated.

Im guessing chances are its not valves. I have seen plug wires VAC leaks ect cause misfire ( most of the time muti cyl.) I would deff look threw that before looking at a head job to replace valves
Yep, it was just the plug wires. Replaced the set and it purrs like a kitten again. Gee I'm glad I went to all the trouble to replace the injectors. Arrrg! Next I need to figure out the problem with the airconditioning, compressor doesn't come on.
