I'm the OP, and my bluetooth is still not working.
Here's the Technical Service Bulletin that tells you about the entire system:

Remove some of these cover parts from of the dashboard...


to get to the Hands Free Module Part, No. 8785A001...


The Microphone that picks up your voice is in the front light assembly...


Now, you can at least Find the parts.
Sure would be nice if somebody could tell us how to get these parts to Work.

 

BTW, all of the Radio and Cruise-control buttons work very nicely on my vehicle.
Only the Phone buttons don't work.

Bluetooth module outlander 2009

 

Thanks Mark for the document. I checked the module. Removed. No visual issue I could see. No burning smell. Reinserted still not working. Any ideas where I can get a replacement. Without going to main dealer

 

 

Clearly this is a crappy problem part if so many of us have modules that have failed. $600 for a new replacement. Lots of used ones on eBay, but how to know if they work?
