99 VR-4 vs. 03 vette
on may way back from a drive along the columbia river just east of portland, OR on the WA side with my buddy who is also an fd owner iwas in my vr-4 my buddy in his Rex were turning onto a rd to head back to my house. A bright red vette turned onto same rd heading the same direction and we both stopped at the stop sign with not a glimpse of another veh in front of us.. My buddy in the Rex behind me i looked over to the vette and saw the typical vette sitting in that horribly desinged interior saw his guage cluster in the corner and noticed his aftermarket hood that was trying to hide the supercharger underneath.. the early 50's white trash black medium length hair with the thick russian pornstar lookin chin wig... guy glanced over to me ddint even wimper a smile... i hade waited for a moment like this for a long time my scenic windy drive through the mountains was cut short b/c of rain.. I may add it was first rain in awhile and the roads were slick. This loaded up vette with a hissing sound coming from the SC made my day we both left the stop sign from idle i then put it down and took off leaving the vette behind as he continued to gingerly roll through the intersection. I let off the peddle about half way though second and the vette came rolling by when i got another surprise he was driving an automatic... i chuckled and he glanced over and gave me the same look as b4...the next stop sign quickly came and we both stopped.. This time was to be different, got same look as b4 he punched the peddle and stood still and i gingerly rolled through the interesction while he was still trying to get though the cross walk... i was beside myself at this point.... he finally got his tires to grip and made it up to me by the time the next stop sign arrived about block later... jsut as be were both sitting at the sign and take off at idle i punched it as so did he and i was gone b4 he made it through the interesection... the last and final stop sign came i had my window rolled down he had his rolled down and i made a comment to him that he should have spent your money on somthin better... he was pissed and again i rolled his *** a 2nd time....
at one time i was interested in a corvette until i test drove a 99' and was disgusted in the interiour and performance... the car i test drove was the standard vette 5.7 V8 340hp but it felt like my base model 3000gt that i had owned long time ago whcih only had 222 hp if i remember right....

yup, he had all that HP and couldnt do nuthin with it,,, the whole time he thought he was a bad ***, jsut a typical vette owner,, the way his car sounded i woulfnt doubt if he was pushin 500 hp so if it were dry it wouldnt have been much of a race for me, my vr4 is bone stock.

RE: 99 VR-4 vs. 03 vette
I drove a friend of mine's '00 Vette auto for a day and it was the best driving and comfortable car I have ever driven that fits my driving style. I think you need to spend a day with one and then make a judgement. The auto transmissions have an algorythm (spelling?) shifting that matches the best torque for dry pavement acceleration and the one I drove worked flawless. The seat of the Vette I drove felt like it was custom made for me, I had no changes I would make. Except that when I first got in it was set to move the seat up automatic for my buddy's wife that is very short and I'm 6', and the thing nearly squished me like a compactor. I would buy one if it was in my pay scale, and especially a '06 ZO6, without reservation. When I was at the track, one on spray was running high 10's, just a little slower than the truck I was driving that is set up for drags. Different drivers can get different things out of cars. My little '97 turbo Eclipse feels like it is about to break when I thrash the gears hard, so I don't, the Vette only wanted to be driven harder. But, one thing I do agree with is that most Vette owners appear snooty, the ones that don't know how to drive and only have their Vette for the status. The same goes for Porshe and many other of the similar type cars, but I still would caution painting them all with the broad brush.

i know plenty about vettes and they arnt a veh to take lightly esp the newer ones DAMN i like those,, as far as the late 90'2 and early 2000's the base model has no chance with me... and i dont go around saying i killed a vette with whatever the guy had under the hood
