Chrysler 300C vs Evo
Well, last week I raced an S2000 and this week I raced a 2005 Chrysler 300C (0-60 6.3; quarter mile 14.0); looks like a box. Anyways, my girlfriend and I were coming back from seeing Cinderella (no I wasn't ecstatic about seeing it) and I pull up at this light. Then this Chrysler 300C pulls up next to me with two teenagers in the car....where they get money for these cars I don't know. Well, they aren't looking my way so I didn't think anything of it until they start smoking the tires. Seems they were showing off to a couple of girls next to them in the other lane (3 lane road). Well, the girls yell out "to me" NICE CAR!!! So the two guys look over and it begins. The light turned green and they blasted away and I ignored them totally. Then, later down the road they slowed down to 60 mph riding next to my car. So I downshifted to 4th and took off an they followed. I would say by 120mph I was a car and half ahead. We then hit another red light and I raced them from a 10 mph roll which was interesting because they would gain a little and then my turbo would kick in and I would pull away a little. Even though I won both races by a couple car lengths I was surprised at how quick this car was and it wasn't the SRT8 version. The S2000 I raced last week was slower than this box!!
I certainly didn't think they were that quick...and they definately don't look it. I guess that's they the kids were screwing around with you. Nice kill!
Are you not able to shift at high enough RPM's to keep the turbo in the "sweet spot"? I thought at like 3000 RPM's the turbo begins to pull pretty hard, or is it just low boost at that point?

You are doing something wrong. Have you tried feathering the throttle to keep boost between shifts? That will put lots of space between you and those 2 buckets. I also have a regular cab Hemi pickup and I can smoke an S2000 from a dig all the way past 100! And my truck weighs 5000 pounds!!! Try practicing takeoffs and shifting at Irwindale on Thursday nights. It will help you learn better to race against others in a safe environment. You can track your improvement by how much your E.T.s drop. Good luck.
I'm not by any means saying I did perfect racing the Chrysler 300C. There are some driver improvements that still need to happen when racing my Evo IX. When shifting from 1st to 2nd and occasionally from 2nd to 3rd I can't seem to get it right yet (this happened when racing the Chrysler 300C). Sometimes I'll burn the clutch....have to get my stickin foot off the clutch faster I guess!! [:@] It's crazy because the 1999 Civic Si I used to drive was a breeze to shift and I never had trouble. ...practice makes perfect so I guess I just have to race more!!
