10,000 miles and Lancer GTS tires need replacing!

10,000 miles and Lancer GTS tires need replacing!
Does this make sense?
2010 Lancer GTS, stock everything.
Regular NYC driving......well.....maybe I do like to take the corners at 40 or beat the light, the handling is awesome.
But at 10,000 miles my mechanic says the front tires are flaking and shoud be replaced within the next 3k miles! Is this normal? Is there something wrong with the alignment or something else that I should be checking?
