Valve Adjustment

Valve Adjustment
I have a noise coming from inside my Valve cover and I believe it is that valves. They sound like they are ticking. Does anyone know if you are supposed to adjust the valves on these cars? If so, please let me know how to do it and what is involved.
It's a 95 Galant S BTW
Thanks

RE: Valve Adjustment
The 95 2.4L Galant is equipt with hydraulic lash adjusters (lifters). This means that there are no need to adjust them as they are self adjusting. They use oil pressure as a means of self adjusting- if yours are noisy, maybe its time to change your oil? Good Luck!

RE: Valve Adjustment
They are actually VERY noisy. I could hear them from inside the car and when I am not really near my car. It's been doing it for almost a year now and not getting better. I just changed my oil yesterday too and it's still noisy.

RE: Valve Adjustment
I drive the same galant and mine were doing the same thing..granted I'm at just over 130K..but other than running slightly heavier oil the only thing i found to work is Lucas Oil Stabilizer. For 5$ a quart, add it in with your oil (of course leave out a quart of oil) and it should silence the valves. As well as dramatically increase compression, power, and economy. It's almost like vasoline for your engine..but by god it works. The only thing about it is, after having done this to your engine for 30 or 40k miles i've heard reports of sludge buildup...but then again it could just be a mitsu engine w 180k miles on it as well.
