My 93 sometimes grinds when i put it into first, Other times it goes in perfect. The clutch feels fine just kind hard and no other gears grind at all. If i down**** into first it will always go in, but if i am stoped and try to put it in it sometimes grinds alot. i just got the car so i am not sure if this is how they all are. Also i had to put clutch fluid in yesterday it was bone dry in the res.thanks,

 

Ok you need to flush out your clutch lines and fill it up with new fluid + bleed it Also you might want to change your tranny fluid

If you do all that and still cant get in gear then your 1st gear syncro is gone. But i think you should do those ^^ first. I think that will fix your problem.

If it does turn out to be your tranny itself you have many options. You can rebuild the tranny (cheapest option) you can buy a rebuilt one or you can buy a brand new one.

 

I had the same problem with my tranny when I first bought the car. The previous owner totally didn't take care of the care. The third day I had the car it sounded like what you have described and then 2 days later my buddy and I jacked up the car and guess what.......You ready for this?.........................A crack on the bottom of the Tranny about 4 inches by 5 inches. With a light touch of my magic middle finger that **** fell off and the oil just poured down. That's what happened to mine....hopefully yours doesn't do that or not even the tranny coz it cost me 1000 to get a used tranny. Now the car works good after putting about 3000 dollar job on it.

There is one for sale localy for 200 that had 15000 on it

 

i have a 2gen and my first gear is messed up like that also.. Buti can't even down **** to first most of the time. Lately at a stop or a slight roll if i try to go into first it just pop back out or i can feel it grinding or clunkin. All other gears are nice and smooth..

 

Will a AWD trany fit? Is there a difference?

 

Would it be a good idea to get one form a junkyard?
