Default 91 and older headlights

So im looking to black out my headlights but not my pop-up headlights on my 91. The problem is i dont know how to remove the strip lights on the 91 and older dsm's and after taking a look at it today it seems almost impossible with the screws being where they are unless theres another way. Has anybody ever removed the strip lights or know how to do it? Thanks

Im talking about the strip lights that are only used when you flash the brights. Not the pop-up headlights that are actually used for night driving.

Remove the Center Grill 1st, then remove the screws, the outer end is only held in by a clip on the side lights
