Engine confusion
I just reciently bought (or more like rescued) a 91 Eclipse GS. The kid I bought it from said that the milage on the odometer matches the milage on the body (153000) but the motor was rebuilt at 100,000. I have been doing some work of my own, but I'm having difficulty getting parts that match. After a couple hours of research, I think that I actually have a 4g63 turbo instead of the stock 4g63 non-turbo. What I think happened is the primary owner did an engine swap, but didnt tell the kid when he sold it. I have pics of the engine so people can check it out. If anyone can confirm that it is or is not the 4g63 turbo, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
You can tell.
They are both the 4G63, only one is turbo and one isnt. The 1st generation GS came with the 4G63 non turbo. You can tell by looking what the intake is attached to. If its attached to a turbo... or just attached to the throttle body. More than likely its not turbo.
