I was wondering could a bad upper thermostat housing (water outlet) make the car lose pressure and overheat the car. Lose pressure due to the cap not getting the right seal.

i have a problem like that with mine, my temp gauge says middle while the engine is HOT and my engine shuts itself down.......idk
