Default possible bad turbo?

im working with a 93 Tsi talon like mine, it has a ported14b, 550's, 2g MAF SAFC, 3" exhaust, FMIC.
would the turbo cause heavy oil smoke from the exhaust ONLY over 16-17 psi of boostif its going bad? theres very little shaft play up & down and no endplay at all.
if i run it at 15 no smoke at all, get up towards 17-18 the whole inside of the car fills with smoke and cars behind you disappear, the downpipe gasket leaks so you get a good amount of smoke from under the car. i thought it was only the valve cover leaking bad and oil burning off the exhaust, i fixed that but still get the huge cloud of smoke out of the car under higher boost levels, just no more oil under the hood.

Yup, the turbo seals could be leaking, it is an old turbo, unless the owner previously got it rebuilt then ported. You can keep going over 15psi and see if it starts to leak at lower psi levels soon after, lol.
Have you checked the IC piping? Does it have oil in it? Just thinking that it could also be oil finding it's way from the VC into the intake from the breather valve or PCV valve, has that been changed lately?

actually the IC pipes are clean and dry, i let the PCV valve and breather both blow out through a hose to see if that was part of it, but its not any different.
tha valve cover started leaking again &the threads in the 3 front bolt holes are wasted, so i gota put heli-coils in them. im hoping its that leaking on the exhaust again, it didnt start smokng this time untill i got into 3rd gear then it started rollin out.

I am going to agree with the turbo seal theory... Most likely it is cartridge seal that makes that last final seal in the middle between the compressor, and turbine...

Default RE: possible bad turbo? UPDATE -PICS

well, its not the turbo, its blowing oil from somewhere and flying all over hell from wind, it wont smoke untill high speeds. (end of 2nd into 3rd)
the valve cover gasket isnt leaking one bit. where would all this oil be flying from? almost looks like the oil filter adapter to me.[&:]maybe oil pan gasket? only leaks under boost then blows up on the manifold at high speeds, thats what im gettin.
