transmission synchronizers

transmission synchronizers
I recently bought a 94 eclipse base model and I love it. Got it for real cheap, mint body, 100k, needs a new head(which I'm replacing next week), and the interior is mint. I thought I struck gold, but on my way to work I slipped out of 5th gear 3 times. I have a bit of experience working on cars, but none with transmissions. Is it possible to change a synchronizer without paying someone to do a complete transmission overhaul?

RE: transmission synchronizers
its possible if you can figure it out, i have a problem with mine jumping out of 4th gear sometimes, usually does it after it warms up more, and only at a steady speed.
tracking down the exact problem is different, might not be a sychro but could be...
sometimes i wishi had a base model, the faster they go and the more wheels that drive them, the more problems you have.....
