my friend has a gsx with a blown motor (the timing belt slipped while he was going aboot 20 mph) and bought a new 7 bolt out of a jdm evo. he is now engaged and wants to sell it all for a sedan. hasnt been running in 5 yrs and new motor not installed. im pretty familiar with hondas but clueless with dsm motors. how reliable are the 4g63 motors? how much boost can i run with stock internals? should i get new internals? thanx for any imput.

 

a totally stock motor can run about 350hp which is about 20psi on a 16g turbo. I wouldnt really push too much more than that on a stock motor

 

What year is the gsx? The 4g63 can be reliable in the right hands, most people are you that buy them and beat the living crap out of them and they break. The 6 bolt engine can handle abt 450 hp while the 7 bolt can hold up around 425 hp. I would just get the gsx running and go from there, since its been sitting for a while the car is gonna need some lovin.

 

wat year evo did he get the motor off of? if u reply i can give u a good answer.

 

I am betting EVO III since no other EVO engine will fit.
