Default 1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse Engine Light Problems

Can anyone give me some ideas of whats up with this car? The engine light comes on when you get up to normal opp temp and then the dag dab thing starts to surge like its starving for gas. We have changed the fuel filter and 2 way valve and cleaned out the air filter and all that other jazz and notta has helped. Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated.

It maybe the Throttel Position Sensor. When I bought my 91 it was bad and when it got to temp it would fall flat on it's face if you got on the gas hard. Engin light never stayed on just came on whenever the car surged then it would go off after a couple of minutes. Might not be the problem but you may want to take it to a dealer and have them run a diadnostic (SPL?) check on it.

My 2 cents

Stephen

OK now the engine light is coming on at idle when car is just started. When we have the car off and the key on you hear this kind of ticking crackling sound coming from the idle speed control motor. When we unplug that motor the sound goes away. I would take it to a dealer to have it checked but the nearest one to me is 3 hrs away and this car will not make that trip.
There is dignostic we have been doing with the volt meter but
due to major brain farts I can not figure out the ohms on this car. Does anyone know anything about ohms that can help me. Every test I run for ohms sends the needle bottoming out to the left past the 0. I can't remember for the life of me what that means. Also when we checked the connectors on the idle speed control motor the ohm meter reading was between the 1 and 2 mark and the books specs says it should be 28-40? ohms. I lost my automotive book in a fire a few years back that would answer these questions for me so if anyone can pleeeeeeeeease help me I'ld appreciate it.
Thanks....[8D]
