1997 Eclipse: stops running
Our '97 [2.0L, no turbo, 150k mi.] just stops running occasionally. Two trips to the dealer no help. I replaced the very clogged fuel filter {why didn't the dealer catch this?} and it ran and started much better, but now it quits after idling for 5-10 min. Could installing the fuel filter backwards cause this?

RE: 1997 Eclipse: stops running
If you look on your fuel filter there will be an arrow in which tells you to point it toward the direction of flow. I don't know if it is your problem but check for it. They are typically designed for one dirction only. Although in my opinion, if you are having problems with fuel flow, it will usuall show itself when you apply throttle, not just idling. It's possible, but I would be looking for something else that happens in conjunction with the stall.

Another thought. According to another post by a very knowlegable member, 2g eclipses have trouble with the idle control motor. Another possibility to think about. The thread is titled "dying and stalling"

Yep look at you IAC (Idle Air Controller) motor and also look into if there is a tank internal feul filter. Some cars (Like my sentra) have a feul filter mounted directly to the pump in the tank. I have also known a few vehicles tp have BOTH in line and tank filters.
