I'm not saying that Mobile 1 is a bad oil. There is nothing wrong with it, but it is NOT a true synthetic oil like everyone swears it is.

The back label of Mobil 1products read:

*exclusive ofcarrier oil" statement in substantially smaller print.
While at the same time the front label declared the Mobil 1 as:
"100 % fully synthetic*" in really large print.

The "100% Synthetic" relates to the Base Oil or Base Stock.In Mobil 1's case that additivewas originally PAO (Poly-alpha-olefin).
The "exclusive of carrier oil" insimpleenglish meansthat the process oil used to "carry" the additives is not synthetic oil and therefore, the final product (Motor Oil)
isnot 100% Synthetic.

Some of the true synthetic still sold statewide are the german version of castrol syntec and the bmw oil you get from the dealer ( its green )

 

That seems pretty messed up. I would think that they must have had to put an asterks after the "100% full synthetic" or else they would get in lots of trouble for false advertising.
