RE: 300hp
Nope thats not me, like i said its still all stock right down to the rims. But i dont have that kinda money to put into at the moment, by the end of summer i will probably have around $2000 i can put into it, but my goal is to eventually get to 300whp. But as far as the $2000, not counting intake and exhaust, what all should i start with? Would getting the boost controller and bov be a good start?

RE: 300hp
heres a nice 300 horse recipe, prices are for the cheapest parts available:
air filter/adapter ($35)
upper ic pipe ($60)
MBC ($30)
1g bov-crushed ($30, $150ish if you want a greddy etc)
16g turbo ($200 used, $600 new, plus $100 for gaskets/j pipe)
catback ($200 used, $400)
downpipe/cat or testpipe ($200-300)
660cc injectors ($200 used)
SAFC ($150 used)
Pocketlogger ($100)
So if you are really good at finding deals and dont care if things are used maybe $1400, that doesnt include clutch or front mount, both things you will need quickly if you live somewhere warm and race a few times. This was basically my setup although I probably spent a lot more in the beginning. Over time you come accross better deals and gain knowledge and I could have done it a lot cheaper. I also had a clutch/lightened flywheel and front mount, and after my 1st motor crankwalked I got a 1g bottom end/2g ported head.

RE: 300hp
Your gonna have to add a fuel pump to that list as well. But i think you could do it for 2k. It would be tough and you wouldnt be getting new stuff. Also on the list that dsm gave you, its gonna be close to 300whp but youll need to be good at tunnig and also dont forget you are gonna need guages to monitor what your car is doing so add another $200+ in there for a wideband and boost guage. Modding a car is never cheap and is usually best to do it in phase. Here is the steps i would take:
1. MBC &boost guage (Maybe $100 here)
2. UIP & BOV (Maybe another $100 here)
3. Intake & Catback (this will vary depending if you get hard pipe intake or just filter and what type of catback, so it can be expensive)
4. Now get the rest of the tuning supplies that youll need for the setup which is an SAFC, wideband
5. Finish it off with the turbo & fuel system
IMO all of these things are stuff that even a beginner can install themselves with only alittle technical experience. If you can read directions then you can install them. Its that simple. Everyone starts somewhere, and the DSM's are great learning cars. Good luck
EDIT: oh and if you ever get confused as to what some of these acronyms mean that we all use then go here https://mitsubishiforum.com/m_83436/tm.htm
