Ididnt find it necessary for me or for anyone just getting familiar with tuning. Its nice to know your a/f ratio, especially when you are looking to fine tune and squeeze out every extra hp you can get, but like ive said before, you cant just tune off af ratio alone. Extreme example: 16g turbo turned up to 25psi with a 10.8 af ratio on cali 91 octane. What do you think will happen? Detonate and very likely do some major damage. This is why I reccomend the pocketlogger as a cheap and very effective tuning tool. You can watch what your timing curve is doing during a 3rd gear pull from 2k to redline. Thats all the info I need. Watch timing gradually and smoothly increase to redline. When you see timing being pulled, you know you either dont have enough fuel at that rpm range, or you are running too much boost, or both. A wideband isnt going to tell you your car is on the verge of detonating, but the timing curve does.

now does this mean you still feal its unnecesary, or do you agree that its a good idea to get one.

So is that where the SAFC comes into play, when you know you dont have enough fuel at that rpm range, and doyou just tune it straigt from your SAFC? Sorry i know thats probably a stupid question, but like i said i'm still new to all of this.
