Default 4G63T timing

Okay this guy wants to sell me his eclipse for $1000 because he does not want it anymore but the catch is ,is that the timing belt snaped and he cant figure out why. He said he was just drving and all hell borke loose. It looks like somone took the blet and literally streched it until in finally tore in half. What do you think this is from.

P.S im buying the car for parts but if its just something small im going to flip it for like 4000 (2nd gen)

I think it would be possible to just get a rebuilt head off ebay and sell it on. Make some money off of it.

Parts cars are very hard to get decent money for... and it is agonising getting rid of every last tiny peice.

Sometimes t-belts just go. For no reason. They are under a lot of tension when the motor is running... its understandable that after a while it could get weak and stretch.

if the tbelt went then you are looking at rebuilding the head or buying a new one. Also hopefully they didnt hit the pistons too hard. It most cases the pistons are fine but there is always that chance. Id say total, if you did do the work yourself, you could do it for around $600. But if you had a shop do it youd be looking at around $1500. But like you said, if thats it then you could turn and sell it. What model, year, and how many miles?
