90 eclipse died and won't start
Hello, I was driving my 90 eclipse the other night. It was running as normal. I stopped at a series of stop signs, 2 to be exact. On the last one, I started to accelerate and my car died...and I could not restart. The battery was charged and the engine was turning over, it just seemed to be missing that final 'push' to get started. I tried popping the clutch with no success. I finally had to get it towed and it's sitting in my parking lot. Can anyone give me a few possible options? From what I read, it might be the timing belt or fuel pump, but I can't say for sure. Thanks
This happenned to me w/93 Talon.
Died in a parking lot.
Had to get it towed home.
Then, after the tow truck dropped it off at my home I tried to start it again in my driveway and it started right up !
Stupid bitch! (I mean the car.)[>:]
Anyhow, a new (or should I say used/rebuilt) Engine Control Module cured this intermittent dying problem.
Although, now if you suspect your timing belt then do not try to start it.
Rather take a wrench (10mm I think) and remove the top part of the timing belt cover so you can inspect the timing belt .

My mom has a 2000 Mercury Mystique GS with the 2.0 ZETEC motor.
Her car did exactly what you guys are talking about. It died a couple days ago, and
right when we were gonna tow it, we cranked it so the mechanics could hear what
the motor was doing and it started right up....tow truck ready to tow it and all.
We asked a guy that specializes iin Fords and he said it's probably an engine control
module. We thought it was the fuel injectors, he said they're fine.

Never really checkd up on this too much, but i remember there being a problem with 1g ecu's. Something about a transistor burning out too quickly and causing problem. I can't remember, But it's inthe VFAQ's. If anyone remembers hearing something about that, fill me in. I know the fix was really easy, just involved soldering in a new transistor somewhere in the ECU. You guys might wanna read up on that if you believe it's the ECU, it might be the common problem.
