Default 96 eclipse gs spun rod bearing.

I am considering buying a 1996 eclipse, but it has a knock in the engine. I figure its a spun bearing, but i was wondering if this is a common problem for this year? and would i have to remove the engine to change the bearings or could i go up from the oil pan while the engine is still in? Also, does anyone know of any other problems i might run into with this car?
Thanks!

your going to want to remove the engine because you dont know what other damage it may have caused and youll need to hone out the cylinders. Also youll want to do a headgasket change while your doing everything else anyway. Id say just do a complete rebuild and then youll have no worries
