I cant ge it to go up or down I hear a click and my power windows go down though. any ideas.

 

Convertible top motor.

well I found the forward second from the back has these 8 inch metal bars that got bent when we tried to put it down manually, we straightend them and used 2 people to carfully lower it,I found the switch in the truck that puts its in manual.
I can hear the motors but the gears are not moving on either side.
all the windows go down automatically.

 

have you done any work in your cars trunk prior to this problem???

 

no I just bought the car as a summer toy, I usually drive a Tahoe Z71
I got it for 3300 1997 green with tan top and interior.
it has some issues I need to fix as you can see by my recent posts.

back to the top the motors run but I looked down and the drive gears are not turning.
Is there a shear pin or a clutch that might have popped?

 

sounds like you have the emergency override switch in the trunk set to the wrong position.

nope its not in manual when I tried the dash switch, I been in both positions
in normal position you hear the motors but see not roof movement other than the windows go down.
in manual the windows go down and thats all and accourding to the manual that what will happen.
