Default 97 GST stalled out

97 GST 144K miles, timing belt replaced less than 10K ago.

One minute I was accelerating onto the freeway and ...then I wasn't. I coasted in gear for a bit, then slowed to the side. It turned over fine, all the electronics seem to be working - lights, radio, dummy lights. When it turns over the oil light goes out like always but it just won't kick in. The T belt is fine and there is plenty of gas in the tank. Oil level is fine.

Am I going to miss any important steps if I troubleshoot it thusly?:

Check fuses
Check spark at the plug
Check fuel flow at the rail
Check compression ????

A first glance I want to suspect the fuel pump. If it is my problem will be how to replace it. Or rather, what to replace it with. The guy who built the car (probably) put an aftermarket turbo (I can get just about 15 psi boost) and I the stuff I have read so far suggests that OEM won't do it. I figure I take the old one out and get the make/part numbers off of it. There don't seem to be a lot of other mods - that I can tell - except for an external air filter and some kind of bung in the turbo line.

Any other suggestions? I really need to get a multi-tester but it is not in the cards today at least. Electronics are generally beyond my skill set anyway.

Thanks

Doug

OK, no spark so that eliminates that. Coil is next in line....I see they seem to come in pairs.
