Default 97 RS Tranny Issues - Failsafe Mode

Hello everyone. Well, I was driving, and I was crossing over railroad tracks, there was a really loud bang from the transmission, car completely stalled out. Shifted into N, restarted. Car is now stuck in 2nd gear and will not shift up or down. It does shift into reverse. Trouble codes are, P0755, P0731, and P0700. All transmission related codes. Prior to this, the car would take very long to shift into drive after fully warmed up, and when it did it would slam into drive. It shifted fine while driving, and had a lurch when coming to a complete stop.

Well, after days of heavy research, and checking on Mitchell at my job, I have concluded that its has to be a TCM problem or solenoid problem. The easiest thing to replace and try first is to replace the TCM. I just got done ripping my dash apart and what a pain in the *** location this TCM is located at. There is barely any hand room and you gottha take almost everything apart and move **** just to flip the TCM over and take out the bolt that holds the connection in to the back of it. Well anyway, I finally got the bitch out. I opened it up and found the motherboard englufed in some kind of liquid. I have no idea if this is normal or not. The TCM does have a smell to it. Is the inside of the TCM suppose to have that substance inside of it?

Shift solonoids/syncros are gone. Split the cases or replace the tranny. I just had to do mine...

To replace the solonoids, if i have to, I understand you just have to drop the pan and they are right there, correct? Any pictures? Ive read about people who had the same problem, replaced the tranny, only to have the same problem occur again because they overlooked the TCM.
